When I first learned to photograph people, I had a hard time ensuring that I was getting what I wanted. With angle of camera vs where the person was. I thought I really was bad at it. But over time I have learned many new techniques and trick to be able to make the shot something that I would be happy with and that the client would be happy with.

I would like to know if you take these shots as well, if you have avoid them because of specific reasons.

You said that you have learnt different techniques and tricks when you photograph people. Can you be more specific? May I know which ones? I´m sure other users would like to know them.

In my experience, for me photograph people is not as hard as other fields. I have more trouble to photograph landscapes or buildings than people. With people I can approach easier and I know what would or wouldnt work. But If I photograph a building I have trouble to know if i´m taking the right angle or if I should do something else. I guess everyone have a favorite field on photography.

Anyways, I cant wait to hear your tricks and techniques. Let me know please. Thanks

Something I forgot to mention is that photographing people is easy to accomplish if you know the person because you can take as long as you want withouth bothering him/her. The real goal is to photograph strangers. If they know you are photographing them, first you need to gain their trust and respect and then you can take the pictures. If they do not know you are taking pictures of them and then they find out, they probably will not like that. So you have to learn to avoid further arguements and be able to accomplish such goal

hi guyz...same here...love taking a shot but the thing i have to figure out on which I'm good enough. I need some help or your techniques on doin my shot easier... I know we have differences and uniqueness... Thanks...

Techniques and tricks are all very good, but you really have to concentrate on the sitter not your camera ... Make them at ease and relaxed and you WILL get the shot.

In the studio i only use tungsten (non flash) and a very very quiet camera with a foot release, so i can sit and chat ... the sitter bearly knows they are being photographed.. as opposed to BOOM! wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ping! of a flash pack each time

The only tech things you need to think about are focus, exposure and lighting .
With lighting the softer the better for a flattering photo ... try a window on an over cast day.
With focus these days its simple with auto, just try to use as small an appeture as possible to 'blow out' the background.
Experiment a little with exposure, but with digital ive found that 1/2 a stop under will get you less 'white out' spots
