Night Hunter
Well here goes, my first post on the forums. Meet my male Madagascan Giant Leaftailed gecko, Uroplatus fimbriatus.THey are nocturnal so thebest time to shoot them is at night, this one was stalking a locust in the middle of the night. I had all the lights off apart from one in the room next door - I left the door slightly ajar to let a tiny amount of light to trickle in. Focused manually by switching a lamp on to capture the correct focal point, then the lamp was turned off to allow the geckos pupil to dilate to its normal size in the dark and capture it in its natural state. This shot is an 8 second exposure and nothing has been altered in photoshop other than the application of the noise reduction tool. It might not be to a lot of peoples tastes due to the low light and the subject matter but it is one of my personal favourite images. I would really like to hear your views. ![]() This second image was taken as above but the gecko moved during the long exposure, despite this I still like this image. It portrays the hunting in the movement to me. Again no adjustments in PS other than noise reduction. ![]() This is my female, eyeing up a locust. ![]() |
