How old or new is the gear that you use-specifically the cameras?

I have two-a digital and an analogue camera. The digital is relatively new-two years old, because let's face it the technology is changing so fast that anything older is obsolete.

But my film camera is an ancient Nikon. It is as solid as a rock, a beautiful black SLR that is older than I am. There is no model number, I have no idea what it is, just that my father had it already when I was born. It was passed onto me as my first camera.

It is as good as the day it was made. No internal light meter now, but that's just fine!

I think keeping old equipment that works good as backup is a great idea. But generally once I buy something I use it for a good number of years as we all know that digital equipment is not really that cheap.

A good SLR will last forever with regular cleaning and upkeep. Its only newer cameras that are easily broken and obsolete fast that seem to be replaced easily. I mean look at some of the antique cameras people still use to take amazing pictures. My gear is pretty obsolete, but thats just cause I'm broke and can't justify upgrading.

Yes, I understand how that feels. To replace my Nikon would cost me the earth, and so I simply haven't done so. It works, so why mess, and have to learn a new camera?

I use a Sony Pansonic digital camera. I am not sure how old it is because it was used and the girl who sold it got a new camera so I bought the old one off her. I think I got it last year so it must be at least 2 years old.

I buy a new camera one a year, I try to keep up with technology but like you said, it gets a bit hard lol. And thats just being honest.
